Program Description:
Why is it sometimes difficult to talk about disabilities? How do you know which words to use? What words would you use to describe yourself and your identities? In this session, the presenter will share some quick and (relatively) easy tips for everyday language to use when talking about disabilities and accommodations. Please bring questions to ask during the talk and be prepared to share your own experiences and examples.
Program Learning Objectives:
- Think about ways that language affects our everyday life
- Examine examples of language related to disability
- Reframe preconceived notions about ability
