About
The Indy Book Project is an all volunteer literary nonprofit serving Central Indiana. Since its inception in
2018, it has gifted over 98,000 books to children in Indianapolis and the surrounding areas. With a
mission to ensure that all children have access to books in their home, Indy Book Project collects gently
used or new books from the community, sorts them, and then distributes them to community centers,
schools, and other locations that serve youth. Why is this so important? Because research has shown
that increasing access to books and giving children the choice to choose what they want to read
improves academic performance and attitudes toward reading and learning.
