ILADD Appoints Andy Kirby as Executive Director

ZIONSVILLE, INDIANA (April 15, 2024) – ILADD, Inc. announced today that Andy Kirby has been appointed as its new Executive Director effective June 3, 2024. Kirby brings nearly two decades of experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) to his new role, including extensive service as a nonprofit executive.

Kirby currently serves as the Chief Operations Officer for The Arc of Indiana, a nonprofit with 46 chapters covering 68 counties that serves and advocates for people with IDD. In addition, he is the Executive Director of The Arc of Indiana Foundation, a nonprofit that works to create employment opportunities for people with IDD. He has served in those positions since 2017. Prior to his work at The Arc of Indiana, he was the Executive Director of The Arc of Greater Boone County. Kirby began his career at Carey Services, a nonprofit based in Grant County that provides services to people with IDD, serving in multiple roles over ten years, including Director of Adult Services and Chief of Business Operations. He then became the Vice President of Industrial Operations for Bona Vista Programs, a nonprofit in Howard County that also provides services to people with IDD, before being appointed Executive Director of The Arc of Greater Boone County in 2015.

Since 2012, Kirby has also served as a Surveyor for the Commission for the Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities, and he is a member of the Board of Directors of Special Olympics Indiana. Kirby has been a member of ILADD’s Advisory Council since 2020. He received the 2022 Rising Star Award from The Arc of the United States.

Kirby holds a Master of Business Administration Degree from Indiana Wesleyan University, and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from Indiana Wesleyan University.

Since its inception in October 2019, ILADD (Independent Living for Adults with Developmental/Intellectual Disabilities) has grown to serve over 125 adults with IDD through a variety of independent living classes, clubs, programs, and social outings. Current independent living classes offered by ILADD cover a number of topics such as cooking, budgeting, relationships, and safety. ILADD’s clubs include Hiking Club, Community Service Club, Fitness Club and two Book Clubs. Numerous social options are provided by ILADD for adults with IDD, including Game Nights, Monday Mingle Dinners, and trips to plays, movies and sporting events. ILADD also has a Self-Advocates Group and offers quarterly informational seminars and networking opportunities for self-advocates, families, guardians, caregivers, and the public. ILADD is also developing a community for adults with and without IDD, Crossbridge Point, which will be a part of the Wild Air development on Marysville Road in Zionsville.

As ILADD’s Executive Director, Kirby will lead ILADD’s efforts to provide housing, enrichment/educational programs, and social options that enable adults with IDD to live in homes of their own and enjoy fulfilling and meaningful lives in their communities.

“We are extremely pleased that Andy is joining our ILADD Team,” said Tom Easterday, President of ILADD. “His outstanding leadership skills, extensive nonprofit management experience, and many years of working directly with adults with IDD, make him the ideal person to lead ILADD as it continues to grow and serve more adults with IDD. Andy’s passion for serving individuals with disabilities and his dedication to helping them achieve independence and inclusion have been evident throughout his career. Those strong attributes will guide him in his new role as the Executive Director of ILADD.”
