ANNOUNCES APPPROVAL OF CENTURY STRUCTURE DESIGNATIONS

Zionsville, IN—The SullivanMunce Cultural Center, Inc. (SMCC) is pleased to announce the approval of an additional Century Structure, the Lesley Hunt home at 605 West Sycamore in Zionsville, IN.

The program recognizes homes with a Century Structure designation (at least 100 years old) or a Heritage Home designation (at least 75 years old). As part of the SullivanMunce Cultural Center, the Century Structure Program honors Zionsville’s residential and commercial historic architecture within the Village area. Thirty-six structures have been approved to date.

The Hunt residence, circa 1890, is a Gabled-ell style home, characterized by a street-facing gable as well as a side-facing gable, popular in the late 19th- and early 20th century. The home still contains several hand-painted porcelain doorknobs and painted transoms fashioned by long-time resident Flossie Pederson in the 1930’s as well as many period-specific architectural features. The home is rated as “Contributing” in the 2021 Zionsville Sites and Structures Inventory.

You can find out more about the Century Structure Program at the SullivanMunce Cultural Center in person or on our website https://www.sullivanmunce.org/researching-your-home.html Approved applications and accompanying research are archived in our historical collections which can be reviewed at the SullivanMunce Cultural Center.
